The Atlas Of Dreams - Color Plate 2 black & white version
A simple example of how an "Atlas Of Dreams" image is constructed - there are only three images that go into creating this one, though in Photoshop there are several layers. An engraving done by Giovanni Battista Piranesi in 1743, "Sepulcher Chamber", squished into a square provides a starting point. To which is added a piece of spin art done by my father, Gustave Maier. This is changed from a circle to a square via a polar transformation. I play with the two images; add the border frame, and first produce a black and white version. Then I play with letting the color elements come through to produce the final color version.
